The Green Bar and Ketel One Vodka celebrate the legacy of Le Alexander McQueen and his Sarabande Foundation with a limited edition cocktail

To celebrate the legacy of Lee Alexander McQueen and his partnership with the Sarabande Foundation, we have worked with Ketel One and renowned British jewellery designer Shaun Leane to create a limited edition cocktail for London Craft Week, which will be available at the Green Bar throughout May. Embodying the fearless creativity of McQueen, the Ketel One Silver Pearl cocktail brings to life the beauty and craftsmanship so significant to both their talents throughout their 10-year friendship and collaboration.

The serve draws inspiration from Shaun’s avant-garde Tahitian pearl shoulder piece created for McQueen’s VOSS show in 2001. Ketel One’s Europe Brand Ambassador David Beatty and Hotel Café Royal’s Bar Manager, Derren King worked closely to develop a serve with high level of craftsmanship and detail. The striking sharp structure of the shoulder piece and the exquisite use of Tahitian pearls is emulated through the jagged edges of the Shiso leaf and delicate ivory candied pearls. The Ketel One Silver Pearl reflects Leane and McQueen’s shared dedication to pushing the boundaries of design and their obsession with the natural world. 

The iconic and fresh cocktail is available throughout May and features Ketel One vodka, home made Manuka honey and shiso syrup and fresh flavours of lemongrass, ginger, mandarin oil and lemon and is decorated with shiso leaf, a white chocolate feather and an edible pearl.

About Derren King and the Green Bar

Derren joined Hotel Café Royal in 2016 as Bar Manager of the Green Bar, bringing with him a wealth of experience and creativity garnered from working in some of London's most renowned establishments including Nobu Mayfair and the Punch Room at the London Edition. His most recent successes include the range of botanical cocktails created for the L'Atelier de Givenchy fragrance collection; the celebrated cocktails were exclusive to the Green Bar whilst the corresponding fragrances are exclusive to Harrods. Derren takes his inspiration from botanical ingrdients he seeks out on his travels and the Café Royal cocktail book, a bible to bartenders, which celebrates its 80th anniversary this year. 

The Green Bar is open Thursdays to Saturdays 12pm to midnight and Sundays to Wednesdays 4pm to midnight.
